FIND YOUR PLACE AT MBPC!
You’re welcome here. And when you’re ready, we’d love for you to call MBPC home.

Maybe you’ve been worshiping with us for a few weeks. Maybe you’ve been coming for years. Maybe
you’re new to church altogether.

Wherever you are on your journey of faith, we’re glad you’re here.

Becoming a member of Mountain Brook Presbyterian Church is simply a way of saying, “This is my
church. These are my people. This is a community where I want to grow in faith, serve others, and
follow Jesus alongside others.”

There’s no pressure and no complicated process. If you’re interested, we’d love to have a conversation
with you.

WHY BECOME A MEMBER?

You don't have to be a member to worship at MBPC, attend Sunday School, participate in church activities, or simply spend some time getting to know us.
But membership represents something deeper than attending church. It is a commitment to belong, grow, serve, and participate in the life and ministry of a community of faith.

BELONG
Church is more than a place we attend on Sunday morning. It is a community where we know one another, care for one another, celebrate together, grieve together, and walk through life together. Membership is a way of saying, “This is my church family.”

GROW
None of us has faith completely figured out.
Membership means committing ourselves to continue growing as followers of Jesus Christ through worship, prayer, Scripture, learning, fellowship, and life together.

SERVE
God gives each of us gifts that can make a difference.
At MBPC, members help care for one another, teach our children and youth, serve our neighbors, support missions, welcome visitors, lead ministries, and find countless other ways to put faith into action.
There is a place for you here.

HAVE A VOICE
As a Presbyterian congregation, MBPC is led by its members.
Members help shape the future of our church, participate in congregational decisions, elect our elders, and may themselves be called to serve in leadership.
Your presence, your perspective, and your gifts make our church stronger.

WHAT DOES MEMBERSHIP MEAN FOR MBPC?

When someone becomes a member, the church gains much more than another name on a membership roll.

We gain another person with whom to share life and ministry.
Every member brings experiences, questions, talents, relationships, ideas, and gifts that God can use.

A healthy church isn't built by a handful of people doing everything. It is a community of people who worship together, care for one another, serve together, and discover together what God is calling them to do.
MBPC is better when you are part of it.

SO...HOW DO I JOIN?

Don't worry—we'll help you with that.

People come to MBPC from all kinds of backgrounds. Some have been Presbyterian their entire lives.

Some come from other Christian traditions. Some haven't belonged to a church in years. And for others, becoming a member may be their first public profession of Christian faith. Depending upon your circumstances, membership normally happens in one of three simple ways:

  •  Transfer of Membership: If you are currently a member of another Christian church, we can usually receive you by transfer of letter, which we will handle with your previous church.

  • Reaffirmation of Faith: If you've previously been baptized and professed your Christian faith but aren't currently an active member of another church, you may join by reaffirming your faith.

  • Profession of Faith & Baptism: If you've never been baptized or publicly professed your faith in Jesus Christ, we'd be honored to walk with you through that process.

You don't need to figure out which category applies to you. That's our job.
We'll talk with you, answer your questions, and make the process as simple and meaningful as possible.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

It begins with a conversation. Let us know you're interested, and Pastor Madison or another church leader will reach out to you.
We'll talk about MBPC, hear a little about you and your faith journey, answer any questions you have, and explain the next steps toward membership.
No pressure. No obligation. Just a conversation.
