OBITUARY
Robert E. (Bob) Dudelston
April 6, 1932 – February 15, 2025
Bob was born April 6, 1932, in Hartford City, Indiana to his parents Preston C. and Verla O. Dudelston.
He graduated from Ball State University in 1964 with a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and in 1967 with a Master of Arts Business Administration concentrating in Finance and Economics. While in college, Bob was in the Air Force ROTC and received his commission upon graduation. After 2 years active duty and 20 years of active reserve duty, he retired with a rank of major.
He worked as controller for 20 years at the former Ingersoll Steel, and later as controller at the former New Castle Engineering, both in New Castle, Indiana.
He came to Alabama to be controller of the former Hunter Engineered Plastics in Lincoln, Alabama, finally finishing his working career as Vice President of Finance and Administration for 17 years at System Controls in Birmingham.
While raising his family in Indiana, he was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, New Castle, Indiana and later was a very active member of Mountain Brook Presbyterian Church, Mountain Brook, Alabama, as a ruling elder, treasurer, and finance chairman. Bob attended church every Sunday and loved to work on various church projects.
Early on Bob enjoyed gardening and family trips in their motor-home and later enjoyed woodworking after his retirement.
Bob was lovingly devoted to his wife, Ann Foster Patton for the past 67 years. They enjoyed each other as they raised their family.
Bob greatly enjoyed their children Deborah “Dixie” (Kevin) Gross of Sachse, Texas and Jefferson “Jeff” (Myra) Dudelston of Clemmons, North Carolina.
He was very proud of his grandchildren, Joshua (Katy) Gross, Sarah Gross (Jiovanni) Brown, and Jacob Gross for their accomplishments. Bob also very much loved Jeff’s young daughters Margaret and Amelia Dudelston. And of course, he adored his great grandchildren Jayvin, Skylynn, and Jonavin Brown and Jack Gross.
Bob is also survived by his siblings Ron (Dorothy) Dudelston, Maxie (Bill) Mallot, and David (Donna) Dudelston and special first-cousin Judy Snowberger.
