Dewin Tibbs is a native of Birmingham. He has been directing choirs in the area for more the 25 years. Dewin holds a Bachelor of Music in voice performance from the University of Alabama, and an Master of Music in Voice Performance from the University of Montevallo. Dewin is an award winning classical baritone who performs on a regular basis. His most recent performances include an operatic production at Birmingham-Southern, and a "new music" concert at UCLA in the Spring of 2008. Dewin has also been featured as a soloist for the Lee Scott singers. He has served as a soloist in the choirs at St. Luke's Episcopal, and Independent Presbyterian Church. Dewin enjoys a twenty year reputation as a voice teacher, having served as an adjunct voice instructor at Shelton State Community College and the University of Montevallo. Dewin maintains a successful vocal studio and is an expert on the development of the adolescent voice, speech therapy, and vocal repair. Dewin's students have been offered over $750,000 in vocal scholarships around the country.
Dewin will be in his 15th year as Director of Music at Mountain Brook Presbyterian Church beginning in February 2015. Dewin invites everyone to learn to sing, and/or contribute to our worship as a member of the Mountain Brook Presbyterian Church Chancel Choir.
